Visiting Artist and Teacher, Black River School, Holland MI, 2019
For a three-week immersive multimedia project. Using a grant from the Michigan Department of Humanities, students grades 6-12 created an immersive installation of underwater landscapes, one polluted and one healthy. Students in grade 4 made paper-mache masks of freshwater creatures to participate during the final performance. Using inspiration from the Big Read book “What the Eyes Don’t See” by Mona Hatta-Attisha, students learned about the Flint water crisis, lake pollution and the benefits of taking care of our municipal water systems. (MI Dept. of Humanities representative awarded Black River another grant after visiting the show)
