This was the holy name given to Black Elk during his Great Vision at the age of nine, which sealed his destiny towards becoming a medicine man.
Often called “Holy Mountain”, this monastery has been the home of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks since the Byzantine era, established in 972 AD.
